Begining of Second Quarter

Well we have made it through the first quarter. The students are finally catching on to routines and getting into the rhythm of the class. We are having a blast exploring the new concepts in first grade.
You have been seeing a lot more research activities coming home this last month. This is something that will continue throughout the rest of the year. Research activities are activities that your child can work with you on. Please make sure that even though you are helping them, that when they come to school to share their presentation with the class that they know the information. Students will get up in front of the room to share their research projects. The ones that I have seen so far have been very good and the students seem to really enjoy talking about the new information they have found.
As the year continues I would ask that each of the students as well as parents check the web backpack regularly. I will be posting important information as well as homework and projects weekly. You will also be able to find the weekly spelling lists there. Spelling test are on Fridays and the new spelling list goes up on a Monday. Please spend a little time each night practicing these words.
If you go to my documents page, you will also find sight word practice and math facts. There are links for you to go to so you can print off flash cards.
I would like to thank every parent for all of the time and effort you give to your child. It really shows in the classroom. As we march on through the next quarter you will be seeing lots of pictures posted on my web backpack of all of the fun activities we will be doing. Make sure you check them out.
